Professional Learning Coordinator

Professional Learning encompasses all initiatives that foster employee growth, enhance skills, and ultimately drive both individual and organisational success. This position will collaborate with subject matter experts, internal and external stakeholders, and staff to develop and deliver in-house and external learning programs. Success in this role means every staff member at MITS having the skills and trainings to effectively deliver in their role, with a clear view of their future growth and MITS and an understanding that they can – should they wish – forge a life-long career at MITS.

The Professional Learning Officer will be responsible for developing, delivering and reviewing staff professional learning, training and development programs for all staff across MITS. Some of the key responsibilities are:

(Professional Learning Programs) work with the Executive, People and Capability Manager and Managers to identify the skills, competencies and knowledge required across the organisation or within specific teams or individuals and utilise data to develop, document and monitor individual and team development and training plans to address those needs;

(Professional Learning Plans) with assistance from the Executive, People and Capability Manager and Managers, develop, communicate and maintain tailored Professional Learning Plans for and with every MITS staff member, including through the development and delivery of e-learning courses, workshops and other trainings, to ensure every MITS staff member understands how they may continue to grow with MITS;

Qualifications

  • qualification in teaching or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • experience in design and delivery of training courses;
  • experience in planning and coordinating training;
  • experience in developing and managing strong staff engagement.

Essential Experience

  • identifying and assessing the merits of learning opportunities;
  • planning and prioritising professional learning for staff by setting achievable timelines;
  • supporting implementation of key initiatives; and
  • ability to assess and anticipate potential barriers to change management processes.

Boarding Coordinators

We are seeking to recruit boarding staff who are available for weekends and overnight hours. If you are an experienced boarding coordinator and would like to become a part of our growing boarding program here in Richmond, we look forward to hearing from you.

These positions will report to our Boarding House Managers across our Year 7 and Senior Boarding Programs which expand across three locations in Richmond.

Supervision hours operate across 7-Days:

  • After school - 3.00pm to 9.30pm and 10-10.30pm in our Senior Houses
  • Overnight - 3.30pm to 9am - which includes a sleep period and an overnight allowance.
  • Weekend Days - 9am to 4pm

Weekend shifts are an important and necessary part of the shift load for each Boarding Coordinator.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate experience in active student supervision of young people and understand the reasonable and necessary care required to support young people through their boarding and education programs. You will be available on weekdays and weekends and able to contribute through a mix of overnight, evening and day shifts.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in supervision in a residential environment such as Boarding, Teaching or as a Support Worker which may include relevant certificate or other training;
  • Experience working with Indigenous students with respect for their cultures and a demonstrated desire to work in the spirit of reconciliation;
  • Deep experience building relationships of trust and mutual understanding with students;
  • Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain;
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualification or willingness to obtain;
  • Current Full Australian Driver’s licence
