The Application Process

Applications are now closed and will reopen in February for the Class of 2026.

MITS receives a large number of applications every year. We follow a thorough application process to make sure that each of our students will benefit from coming to school in Melbourne. Our application process is carried out in accordance with our Application and Enrolment Policy, which can be found here. Before starting your application, contact Jye Strugnell (Community Engagement Manager) on 0499 109 549 to discuss your child and family's interest in attending MITS.

2

Submit your documents online

Once you have completed an Expression of Interest Form, if you're eligble to attend MITS you'll need to complete an Application form and provide MITS with some documents. A link to upload these documents will be emailed to you with an invitation to complete the Application Form. You will need to upload the following: student’s Handwritten Work and Family Consent, two most recent school reports, School Principal’s Reference, most recent NAPLAN results, Attendance Record and a Copy of the student's Birth Certificate.

3

Shortlisting and interviews

Each year MITS interviews approximately 45 students for our 22 positions. MITS staff will travel to your community to meet you and your family and to speak with your teachers. Interviews happen in late August and early September.

4

Offer

MITS offers positions to 11 girls and 11 boys each year. Offers are made in early Term 4 for the following year. If you do not receive an offer you might be waitlisted in case a place becomes available.

5

Acceptance

To be accepted to MITS you must complete your enrolment forms and be approved for ABSTUDY Away-from-Home allowances. Our Community Engagement Manager will work with you and your family to prepare for MITS Orientation in late January the following year. We will soon be welcoming you as a new MITS student!
